Council President Nikolić and Russia’s Ambassador Aleksandr Botsan-Kharchenko discuss enhancement of Serbia-Russia cooperation

President of the National Council for Coordination of Cooperation with the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China Tomislav Nikolić conferred today with Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Serbia Aleksandr Botsan-Kharchenko.

Council President Nikolić extended his welcome to Russia’s Ambassador, underlining that Russia was a very important mainstay for Serbia and that the political relations were at an extraordinary level, drawing on the potential for the enhancement of economic cooperation. “Serbia has a free market that Russia can use to place its products, so that enhancement of our economic cooperation could be the focus of an increased cooperation in the future”, Council President Nikolić emphasized.

Ambassador Botsan-Kharchenko thanked for the audience, stressing that he highly appreciated the contribution made by Mr. Nikolić to the advancement of bilateral relations between the two countries. “Moscow is highly appreciative of the fact that you have cemented the foundations of the Russian-Serbian cooperation during your Presidency and of the contribution that you are making today to the collaboration between the peoples of Russia and Serbia at the helm of the National Council for Russia and China. I would like to see Russia and Serbia engaging in a more active cooperation. During my stay in Serbia so far, I have realized that our cooperation is fair and responsible and that there was potential for its enhancement”, the Ambassador emphasized.
