Meeting with delegates from Shanghai University of Medicine & Health Sciences 2023

President of the National Council for Coordination of Cooperation with the Russian Federation and the People’s Republic of China Tomislav Nikolić talked today with a delegation representing the Shanghai University of Medicine and Health Sciences, headed by Mr. Tao Wu, the University’s President.

Council President Nikolić welcomed the Chinese delegation and highlighted that Sino-Serbian cooperation was progressing at an outstanding rate, but that there was always room for friendly nations to deepen their collaboration, especially in the health sector, as caring for the health of the nation should always be given priority. “The traditional Chinese medicine has been long discussed in Serbia, and the recently signed the Mid-Term Action Plan for Belt and Road Cooperation for the 2023-2025 period includes the idea for strengthening cooperation and promoting the expertise and experience from the domain of traditional medicine. You can liaise and exchange know-how with Serbia’s excellent, well-educated doctors and health workers, as well as with the prestigious Universities of Belgrade, of Novi Sad, of Kragujevac and of Niš,” Council President Nikolić emphasized.

President of the Shanghai University of Medicine and Health Sciences Tao Wu thanked Council President Nikolić for receiving the delegation and for arranging the meetings with Serbia’s Minister of Health, Minister of Science and Minister of Education, stressing that he was aware of the extremely good and friendly relations between the Governments of Serbia and China. “The authorities in Shanghai have lent their full support to our University’s idea to establish an innovative international research centre and to form an international team for innovations. The support we have received from the competent institutions in Belgrade has encouraged us to come up with both a plan and a strategy for the opening of a scientific institute by the end of the year. You will be updated on it at the earliest opportunity,” Mr. Tao Wu underlined.
